University Village is a Continuing Care Residential Community located in Tampa, Fl. The Masterpiece Living lifestyle initiative redefines healthy aging, and was instrumental in guiding us through the design process.

The transitional style of design followed the traditions already set down in adjoining buildings. The utilization of colors appropriate to the aging eye, and furnishings scaled to fit the comfort level of the senior population were well received. Artwork and accessories contributed to the look of an upscale resort. Emphasis was placed on elegant but easy to care for finishes.

The 40 foot high rotunda ceiling is a dramatic feature in the Lobby. It is complimented by the water feature and elliptical concierge desk. The buffet dining room is unique to senior living community. The glass and porcelain tile compliment the stainless steel and wood wainscoting featured throughout this dining room. The private dining room is an elegant jewel of a room, complete with custom table and buffet built in. The rich colors and textures utilized, compliment the brick façade and lovely landscaping throughout the property.

Grand Aurora Award Winner

Daring by Design Receives Building Industry’s Top Award: Grand Aurora Award

Daring by Design, Inc, the Boca Raton-based interior design company specializing in the hospitality and senior housing industries, was the Grand Aurora award recipient in the interior design category during the 19th annual Aurora Awards competition.

Only one Grand Aurora Award is presented in each of the competition’s categories which recognize and honor the best in construction and interior design. Daring by Design received the prestigious award in the Retirement Community category for the company’s interior renovation and redesign of public areas within University Village, a luxury retirement and continuing care community in Tampa, Fla.

In addition, Daring by Design was presented with an Aurora Award for the community’s design concept, execution and installation.

“To be recognized for design excellence and judged by architects and interior design professionals from across the country is truly an honor,” said Dale Miller, founder of the firm. “Since the Aurora Awards are considered the ‘Oscars’ of the building industry, receiving this peer recognition is extremely gratifying.”

The Aurora Awards were presented during an industry gala/spectacular which coincided with the 2008 Southeast Building Conference held in Orlando, Fla. The nationally recognized award competition judges entries throughout the 12-state southeast region.
